ADDRESS: 2000 Strathallan Wood Place
NEIGHBOURHOOD: Lake Simcoe
AGENT: Bernice Whelan, Bernice Whelan Realty Inc.
PRICE: $2,249,000
THE PLACE: This 3,660-square-foot cottage with 103 feet of shoreline is just over an hour outside the city on Lake Simcoe’s Kempenfelt Bay. Originally built in 1968, it features a two-storey stone fireplace, cork flooring and a piece of lawn art that looks like a donut twist.
BRAGGING RIGHTS: Living in a piece of architectural splendour. Toronto architect Harry Bernard Kohl built the cottage in 1968 to look like the Stahl House—Peter Keonig’s modernist masterpiece in the Hollywood Hills.
BIG SELLING POINT: The cottage is made entirely of glass and steel, which means expansive rooms with huge windows and vistas of nothing but trees, sky and water.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: If you’re looking for rustic living, this isn’t the place for you—not even close.
BY THE NUMBERS:
• $2,249,000
• 103 feet of waterfront
• 85-foot I-beams
• 4 bedrooms

- Serenity now

I love the writer of the captions for Cottage and House of the Week! Always more interesting than the houses themselves.
July 11, 2011 at 4:11 pm | by DavidAgain I ask -who and how is it decided which properties to feature – http://www.yourclearblueheaven.com check out this property – wow
July 14, 2011 at 7:30 am | by TerriTerri, don’t know who decides on the properties to profile but am glad it’s not you. The property you link to is hideously out of date, rather ugly in the first place, significantly oversized (especially given lot size)etc. etc..
Home profiled by Toronto Life is absolutely stunning.
Of course, all this is only my opinion!
July 14, 2011 at 8:21 am | by MurrayI agree with Murray–The home that “Terri” aka Jeanne Korpi is touting is beyond hideous–inside and out. While the Stahl cottage doesn’t do much for me outside of the treehouse-effect of the massive windows, I can see it as a beauty. The other is a horror show. Good luck selling it Terri.
July 14, 2011 at 10:56 am | by MikeWell there could be uglier houses than the ‘Terri’ house, I guess. Not sure though.

July 14, 2011 at 2:21 pm | by Effa Manleythe bottom line is … who would want to buy a beautiful cottage on Lake Simcoe the lake is infested with zebra mussels (google it)
July 18, 2011 at 7:43 am | by barThe only nice thing about clearblue was the view. What an ugly home!
