Rob Ford gets chewed out over Woodbine Live’s lack of progress
On BlogTO yesterday, a longtime Etobicoke-North resident verbally smoked Rob Ford over the Woodbine Live project—you know, the one the mayor called one of his biggest achievements as a city councillor. The massive development, which was supposed to create thousands of new jobs, plus a hotel, a skating rink, shops and other touristy delights, has stalled, despite receiving approval back in July 2007. The resident, Rahim Ladha, questioned whether Ford really did much to get the project approved, since he wasn’t present at several crucial meetings, and most of council supported the plan anyway. Then, Ladha hopped on his bike and headed to Highway 27 and Rexdale, where he observed that the site was bereft of cranes, trucks, workers or signs of construction. How fitting, he concluded, that the mayor’s great achievement, which was supposed to show his ability to get private sector funds for municipal projects, “five years after conception, does not exist in any tangible form.” Yikes. Next time, Ford might want to wait for the ribbon cutting before he starts to brag. Read the entire story [BlogTO] »
I’ve been emailing Rob Ford, and now Doug Ford for years about Woodbine Live, never receiving a response. Not surprising. Back when Rob was councillor, all he could really address were miniscule things like potholes and stop signs that had fallen down. Other then that, he never really got much done for us up here in Ward 2. Oh wait, that’s right, we basically sat out the housing boom. Thanks for that Rob! Wish the rest of Toronto would have checked out what Ford had done in the 10 years he sat as councillor for ward 2 (precious little) before they selected him to manage the entire city.
Oh Nick, most of us did not vote for him.
He was never anything but a blowhard.
The city always knew, ppl who did get him into office live with many regrets.
sorry man!
Good luck!
