Boredom brings Conan O’Brien to Massey Hall

Not content to collect unemployment cheques and twiddle his thumbs at home, Conan O’Brien is taking his act on the road and will be making a Toronto stop at Massey Hall on May 22. The tour is officially called the Conan O’Brien: Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour; the comic and writer is string dancing into 32 cities after NBC’s late-night wars, which split North Americans into Team Coco and Team Jay.

The last time O’Brien made a stop in Toronto was when he took Late Night With Conan O’Brien to the Elgin Theatre during the winter of 2004. About 50,000 Coco fans vied for the 4,000 tickets to the show (Roots even sold commemorative T-shirts). Only single tickets in the balcony and gallery levels (going for about $60, with all the surcharges) were left when we last checked Ticketmaster, so prepare to make nice with the scalpers.

No word if sidekick Andy Richter or the Masturbating Bear will be sharing a tour bus with him, but O’Brien reassures us on Twitter that the show will be “half-assed.”

  1. Toronto crowds pounced on Conan’s “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television” tour…but one show is not enough!

We’re imploring the good people at teamcoco.com to add ONE MORE SHOW in Toronto! If you schedule it, we will come…in droves.

Join our group and help bring a second show to Toronto!:
