Casting announced for Toronto production of The Addams Family

Casting is in place for the national tour of the Addams Family, a musical comedy based on what we assume is everybody’s favourite family of monsters and misfits (the jury is still out on The Munsters and The Fords), set to open on Nov. 16 at the Toronto Centre for the Arts.

Douglas Sills, a staple of the California Shakespeare Festival and Tony award nominee for his Broadway performance in The Scarlet Pimpernel, has been cast as Gomez, the head of the Addams household. Sara Gettelfinger has signed on to play Morticia, after successful Broadway stints in A Free Man of Color and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (based on the Steve Martin and Michael Caine classic). We just hope their chops are enough to stand up to New York’s original cast of big names, including Nathan Lane in the role of Gomez alongside Bebe Neuwirth (better known as Lilith Sternin from Cheers and Frasier). Ladies in long sleeves fearful of unnecessary male attention would be wise not to speak French.
