Woody Harrelson to mount play inspired by his life in Toronto this spring

Come April 19, actor Woody Harrelson will mount his play Bullet for Adolf at the Hart House Theatre in Toronto. Harrelson is set to direct the production, which he co-wrote with long-time friend Frankie Hyman and is based their days working construction together in Houston during the summer of 1983.  According to the Canadian Press, Harrelson touts the play as a “raucous frolic into murky waters.”

What does that mean, exactly? “We debate some important issues, for example race and gender, in what we hope is a provocative and humorous piece. We’d like audiences to take this home and continue the conversation. That is what a great night of theatre encourages for me,” says Harrelson. Harrelson has a history of loving our great city—calling it his favourite in North America, no less—having directed This Is Our Youth in Toronto during 2003 and 2004.

Interested in working with Harrelson? Casting takes place at Hart House in Toronto on February 11, 12 and 13.

  1. He’s not paying anyone. I personally know one actress that would have been cast if she was non-union. It’s disgusting. He’s rich – he should stay home and try that shit in LA. They’d laugh in his face.
