Come April 19, actor Woody Harrelson will mount his play Bullet for Adolf at the Hart House Theatre in Toronto. Harrelson is set to direct the production, which he co-wrote with long-time friend Frankie Hyman and is based their days working construction together in Houston during the summer of 1983. According to the Canadian Press, Harrelson touts the play as a “raucous frolic into murky waters.”
What does that mean, exactly? “We debate some important issues, for example race and gender, in what we hope is a provocative and humorous piece. We’d like audiences to take this home and continue the conversation. That is what a great night of theatre encourages for me,” says Harrelson. Harrelson has a history of loving our great city—calling it his favourite in North America, no less—having directed This Is Our Youth in Toronto during 2003 and 2004.
