The storied La Palette space in Kensington Market is now in the assured hands of chef Jean-Charles Dupoire and his partner, longtime friend and sommelier Sylvain Brissonnet, the duo behind Harbord Street’s Loire. At Le Kensington, their menu showcases simple French dishes Dupoire learned from his grandmother. The rotisserie chicken sandwich ($9) is piled with pieces of the slow-cooked chicken that’s a popular staple from their dinner menu. It’s mixed with a ratatouille of tender red pepper, zucchini and eggplant, along with chèvre, all on top of hearty, 12-grain country-style bread. A simple green salad with mustard seed dressing ($4) makes a nice, light side.
The cost: $17, including tax and tip
