TIFF is in full swing, which means two certainties for moviegoers: mad dashes between screenings and endless rush lines. It’s easy for proper meals to get lots in the hubbub. Thankfully the beloved Toronto soup emporium RaviSoups is just around the corner from the TIFF Bell Lightbox.
The soup and sandwich combo allows diners to mix and match from the daily chalkboard menu ($11). The curried apricot and red lentil soup with lime crème fraiche is smooth in texture and taste, blending the complex flavours of coconut milk, ginger and sweet caramelized onions. The filling free-range chicken wrap has large chunks of chicken, fresh baby spinach, roasted yams, crunchy soybeans, caramelized onions and a chipotle mayo kick. It’s all scarfed just in time to return to the rush line.
The cost: $17, including tax, tip and a can of San Pellegrino ($2).
The time: 50 minutes for a sit down lunch; expect about a 10-15 minute wait for take-out orders.
