The Crêpe Québécoise at Liberty Belle Bistro (Image: Andrew Brudz)
Chef Aidan Pascoe’s Liberty Belle Bistro is a welcome reprieve from the prefab chic taking over Liberty Village. The rustic room is peppered with antiques, and the cast iron–fenced patio is a quiet spot for a cozy lunch. On a lunch card featuring burgers, sandwiches and brunchy items, the Crêpe Québécoise ($13) is the house favourite. A delicately folded, paper-thin crêpe hides melted gruyère and smoky westphalian ham, all drizzled with Quebec maple syrup for a surprisingly light summer lunch. Thin frites with thyme and flakes of sea salt provide a savoury crunch, while a side salad of carrots, green beans, onions and mushrooms brightens up the plate with colour and fresh flavours.
The cost: $17, including tax and tip.
The time: About 45 minutes to eat, and another 30 lingering on the patio.

Wow – must try. This looks awesome. School and Mildred Pierce are also seemingly of this same pedigree. If you hit MP, try the green eggs and ham.

May 24, 2011 at 9:46 am | by BerryWent today, waited ten minutes to be seated when it was empty. The cook came out twice and didn’t bother to call anyone to seat us. The second time the cook came out she was also licking her dirty fingers whenand was wearing fairly soiled clothing. Needless to say I walked out after I saw that. Gross.

May 24, 2011 at 3:39 pm | by sickofcupcakesMP moved from 99 Sudbury to Liberty Village…just as great.. indeed..
May 25, 2011 at 12:13 am | by PeeIn response to yield. There are no female cooks that work at liberty belle, so I’m not sure what your talking about
May 25, 2011 at 9:35 am | by RobHave your editor revisit this article because prefab chic is not ‘taking over Liberty Village’, it has TAKEN OVER Liberty Village. Crepes look good though.
May 25, 2011 at 10:59 am | by lvsucksI love this place – love the food – and love the patio!
Im actually really surprised to hear the comment about the staff, everytime I have been there they are really personable and attentive – sounds exagerated to me lol
May 25, 2011 at 11:43 am | by JenI’ve been to “Libery Belle Bistro” 3 times now, twice for brunch and once for dinner. I am as surprised as Jen, the service and food each time has been amazing! Are you sure, Yeild, you weren’t at “Liberty Bistro”?
May 25, 2011 at 11:56 am | by Bill ReidYield… you most be thinking of liberty bistro, not Liberty Belle Bistro on Jefferson Ave. The chef is a male and you referred to the chef as “her”. The service has always been first class and the food top notch. I love their mussels and French onion soup.
