Toronto’s first Peruvian food truck hits the streets in April
With temperatures tentatively crawling back above freezing, another food truck season is poised to begin. The first new mobile restaurant of the year is Nazca, which will serve what chef and co-owner Elias Salazar calls “Peruvian fusion” (think wontons stuffed with crispy langostino and aji de gallina, the Peruvian chicken stew). Salazar tells us that once the truck is up and running, he plans to operate anywhere the city will let him, including outside Ursa on Queen West as an unofficial lunch service (he previously worked catering gigs with the Sharkey Pearce brothers, who own the restaurant). If there’s no guinea pig on the menu, it’ll fall short.
What an ignorant comment, you are saying that if there isn’t guinea pig on the menu , itll fall short. Shows that you have no knowledge about peruvian food. And by the way, tell me a place where you can find Peruvian Guinea Pig…Get your facts straight before you post any ignorant comments!
Guinea pig or not I can’t wait for great Peruvian food to hit this city. Been missing it!
The comment is a bit selective but guinea pig is served in the mountains and in some restaurants in Lima. It is a national dish. Some people may find this food offensive but it is real food and when cooked properly is delicious.
This never opened with Chef Salazar. I funded some other business with Elias Salazar but would never do that again. I am disappointed with the results. I guess some business for just isn’t meant to be.
