Pizza Gigi reopens after “cleaning up” shop

(Image: Jessica Darmanin)

Pizza Gigi reopened suddenly yesterday, much to the delight of hungry neighbourhood residents who have been going through withdrawal (from pizza, of course) for the past three weeks, ever since the shop closed down in connection with allegations of drug trafficking. In the early evening, owner Salvatore “Sammy” Crimi began calling back some of his longtime customers, including 102.1 The Edge radio host Dave “Bookie” Bookman, who soon conveyed the good news to the rest of Toronto.

Jen and Grant of the Black Hoof, apparently big Pizza Gigi fans, were similarly elated. Last night, they tweeted: “Pizza Gigi back in business! How? Don’t know, don’t care!”

We called Pizza Gigi yesterday night to find Sammy alive and well and taking pizza orders. No word as yet on the status of those 15 charges pending against him.

Pizza Gigi, 189 Harbord St., 416-535-4444.

  5. I can’t believe how the media is tolerating DRUG TRAFFICKING!! It doesn’t pay to be honest I guess. Pizza Gigi is being glorified and people are supporting drugs sales!?!!! If your children were buying drugs from him would you still be whining in pizza withdrawal?!!!

I’m disgusted, at the media and the fools who support this garbage.

  7. So in the name of “good” pizza we are to overlook the atrocious consequences that could result from his drug trafficking side business????? Are you kidding me??? If your children were buying drugs from him, would you savour the taste of that slice, sitting back knowing they were on a road leading to no where?

    come on!

  8. Dear Completely Disgusted.
Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? This man is entitled to make a living while he awaits trial. In the meantime we can enjoy the amazing pizza. I am glad that you will not be on the jury. Seems you have already decided the outcome.
