In the late '70's my family and I had chickens in our backyard in a suburb of Montreal. The city gave us a visit, but at that time there was no actual by-law against having fowl on your property. We were allowed to keep our "girls". Our neighbours loved it. We used to leave fresh eggs at their doorstep and the neighbourhood children would come and play with the hens. They were very affectionate and were a great natural pest control. I only wish my children could share this wonderful experiencs I had. Our "girls" all lived long happy lives in the freedom of our backyard!!!

Wow those have got to be some envio-conscious terrorists to raise organic chickens to make bombs! hehe This whole issue reminds me very much of the "big" issue some neighbours had with a woman hanging laundry outside on a clothesline. Apparently that is illegal in some places and should be kept only to the countryside! I fully support the right to have backyard chickens and laundry lines and will have both in my yard soon!
