Take notes for next year, CNE: deep-fried beer has been invented

With another season at the Ex coming to a close, many (including us) thought the food concoctions available couldn’t possibly get any unhealthier than this year’s deep-fried butter. Well, the gauntlet has been thrown, and a man in Texas—where else?—has invented deep-fried beer. Mark Zable puts small amounts of Guinness into ravioli-shaped pockets of pretzel-like dough, then fries them in oil for 20 seconds. Thankfully, the short frying time means the beer remains alcoholic. So take heed, Ex vendors—nothing complements a ride on the Ferris wheel better than a buzz and a stomach ache.
