Chefs and Rants, a blog started by an anonymous Toronto cook, has become a new venting outlet for those toiling in the city’s service underbelly. During its three-week tenure, the blog has compiled a handful of posts, some bitchy comments (a majority of which have been “deleted by the author”) and a growing list of establishments for chefs to avoid “unless you hate your life.”

Beyond a few seemingly genuine rants about low or altogether missing pay, there’s little dirt on what’s going on behind the scenes. We were hoping for more gossip along the lines of Waiter Rant—the American blog that puts skimpy tippers in their place—or the more spleen-rich Waiter Confidential. After all, do local chefs really need to be told to avoid employment at the Carlton Street Subway Sandwiches?
