New Scarborough foodie festival draws unusual (but delicious) suspects

T.O. Food Fest, which hits Scarborough’s Chinese Cultural Centre in two weeks, is trying to shake up the food festival circuit. The vendors coming to the fest have little or nothing in common, other than location (Scarborough mostly) and being the best of the best at making one specialty item, as determined by various publications and user-voted sites. Using these parameters, festival organizers have reeled in some lower-profile but still accomplished vendors, as opposed to the regulars on the food festival scene. Expect Middle Eastern pastries from Patisserie Royale, Hong Kong–style milk tea from Marathon Donuts and Coffee Shop, Filipino fare from Diona Joyce’s Tita Flip and oysters from Rodney’s Oyster House, in addition to the top Indian, Taiwanese, Brazilian and vegan dishes Scarborough has to offer. Admission is free, but you can pre-register online. [T.O. Food Fest]
